Online Poker Timing Tells – Regulars vs Weaker Players

Before we show the filtered results, we would like to discuss our theories of what to expect. 

Regulars playing many tables are likely to spend as little time possible with easy decisions and will save longer actions for difficult or more important decisions. 

Weaker players playing few tables have more time for each decision and will likely have a more unpredictable timing pattern. 

If you recall our theories from the previous posts, they are all based on how a common regular plays. 

Therefore, we expect our timing tell studies to be more accurate and more useful against the common regular. 

Below are the results from the previous timing tell study “3Bet Success Rate in Relation to Timing Ranges”:

Regulars who took a long time to RFI folded to 3Bets about 10% more in comparison to the overall player pool. The quick RFIs fold to 3b% did not change and this is not a surprise. A weaker player who performs a very quick RFI is still likely to be stronger.

Now the results from the previous timing tell study “4Bet Success Rate in Relation to Timing Ranges”:

Regulars who performed quick 3Bets folded to 4Bets about 12% less often in compared to the overall player pool. Regulars who performed longer 3Bets folded to 4Bets around 6.5% more often in comparison to the overall player pool.

Regardless if you are an active table selector, or you play in Zoom games, regulars will always be around you. Attacking common regular’s timing leaks is a good way to improve your win-rate and confidence, especially if you are uncomfortable participating in traditional “reg wars”.
